A couple days ago I was all cocky and was going to write a post called Cheaters Never Win because I cheated big time on Monday night and Tuesday I had lost over a pound.

But then, I only cheated a little bit on Tuesday night and Wednesday I was exactly the same. I finally did drop a little today and over all I'm happy with my progress. But I can't help but think if I wouldn't be just a little bit lower if I hadn't given in to temptation on Monday, or maybe not given in quite so much.

So I am striving to be really good right now. I know that Saturday is going to be a hard day to stay on track. My 5K is that day and there is alcohol and food at the end, then we were invited to a St. Patrick's day party where the guy rented the back room of a bar, and I was invited to a birthday party where a girl did the same. Thankfully they are a quick subway ride away from each other so I think I can go to both. Don't know if the BF will, last St. Patty's he was down for the count by 10pm.

I only have 11 days before my haircut, 3 of them will be with the BF and 2 of them will be with my family which means food, and more food.

I won't be at my goal that I set out for at the New Year, but I'll be well on my way.

I realize that I've kind of left the Fat Smash diet idea behind - I'm not filling all my allowances (I need to get past only eating apples when I want fruit!), and I'm having nuts, or chocolate, and caffeine on a nearly daily basis.  But, I am losing weigh because sticking even a little bit to his guidelines and really lowering my regular amounts of those foods, I am seeing a difference. I am pretty sure that by the end of April I will be where I want.  I just have to realize that I am not doing this as a short term diet so that I feel like I'm thin enough for my hair cut, but I'm really trying to rediscover eating healthy.

Okay - so I took a break from writing to see if my local grocery store had any good deals on fruit because now I really want a fruit salad - and in a few pages of the ad I see "dessert your diet" advertising their baked goods. THEN, there's this section:

It reads: "Freezing preserves foods without additives, so you get all the flavor and nutrition of fresh." Then it's advertising Hot Pockets and Frozen Pizza. Yeah, okay, there's corn there too, but that's ONE item with any nutritional value worth saving! No wonder it's hard for people to know what's healthy at the grocery store.

Thanks to Miranda for your comment about my weekend not being so bad - it definitely could have been worse. One pound on a weekend in reality is not so bad.
Kitty - sorry I keep talking about cheating on my diet. I don't really mean it : -)  Maybe I should start calling it "finding balance in my diet" instead.

I'm always amazed at the price of food in the states. You would never see deals like that in Canada. But ya I agree, false advertising for sure.

NeoHippie - sadly it's almost always on crap food like this. Once in a great while you'll get sales on good stuff like frozen fruit, or fresh produce. Just last night I went back to my store for a sale on berries and they were gone! All the fresh berries in the whole store, snapped up.
