My favorite workouts

Burn Fat to Boost Metabolism with Jillian Micheals (BFBM): A Cardio disc approximately 45 minutes long with a short warm up and cool down. I generally continue to stretch after the video is over. Mostly kick-boxing circuits with kicks and punches, some plyomentric work using squat jumps, burpees etc., and one ab circuit about half way through. No weights, no pushups or crunches.

30 Day Shred with Jillian Michaels (30DS): 3 workouts of increasing difficulty each about 25 minutes long with a very short warm up and cool down. I generally continue to stretch after the level is over. Combination of weights, plyometrics, cardio and abs. Each workout has 3 circuits of Strenght, Cardio and Abs. I regularly burn 240-300 calories per workout depending on difficulty level. Great when pressed for time to get a quick but intense work out.

Biggest Loser Last Chance Workout with Jillian Michaels (BLLC): A strength or toning dvd. Three workouts upper body, lower body, last chance with a warm up and cool down. It is meant to be done UB + LB one day, LC next day repeat. I do the whole thing at once LB, UB, LC. I like this one because it is similar to Her other dvds, but it is real Biggest Loser contestants that don't always know what they are doing, some are quite fit despite being overweight which is great motivation.

Biggest Loser Cardio Max for Weight Loss with Bob Harper (CMWL): I always considered Bob the "nice" trainer on BL, but I now understand why he's on the show, he does not take any excuses and his video is HARD. Three levels of work outs meant to be done over a period of 6 weeks (2 weeks lvl 1, 2 weeks lvl 1+2, 2 weeks levels 1-3) I jumped in with all 3 so that I would have a longer workout. Level 1 is about 20 minutes, level 2 is 10 min, and level 3 is also about 10-15 minutes. Bob only guides levels 1 and 3. Warm up, cool down and level two are led by BL contestants who have gone on to become very fit.

Yoga Meltdown with Jillian Michaels (YM): Two levels of yoga with movement. Rather than flowing through and holding every pose, JM introduces some other dynamic movement (hard to explain, watch the video around :15 - :25 you'll see what I mean). At the time it didn't feel difficult, but I ended up burning 250 calories in the 25 minute workout and I felt it the next day, so I think there is something too this, but it's hard for me to get excited about yoga - kick boxing and/or dancing are much more my style.

No More Trouble Zones with Jillian Michaels. (NMTZ): I have not done this one in a very long time. I used to really like it. It is classic JM circuits using weights and resistance then finishes with a floor circuit. It is just like her 30DS dvd but 45-50 minutes long instead of 25. Since I do 30DS 3-4 days a week, I don't feel as compelled to pull this one out much.

Out door Running: This is a great cardio. I love to run outdoors when the weather is nice I go for distance running rather than running a certain pace or trying to get a certain distance in a certain time. Running gives me a chance to really think about things that are on my mind so I clear my head.

Treadmill Running: On the treadmill I usually aim for a certain amount of time spent (regardless of distance). I play with speed and incline. Here are some of my tread mill workouts, I always walk for 5-7 minutes at 4.0 to warm up and again to cool down:
  • start slow ~5.0, and speed up every 2 minutes, until I get to ~6.0.
  •  put it at comfortable jog and raise/lower the incline every 2 minutes.
  • alternate walk/runs. run 0 incline, walk incline start at .5 and increase it by .5 every interval, b
  • alternate walk/runs with varying incline:  run 0 incline/walk incline of 1; run incline of .5/walk incline 1.5, run incline 1/walk incline 2 etc. I do this up to about an incline of 3, then I do it backwards for as long as I am on the treadmill.
Dancing : Probably my favorite social form of exercise. I still love to just shake it to music like Pink, or the Black Eyed Peas etc. But, social and ballroom dancing has become a great love of mine. This is not me in the video, but it was a good example of what I like to do on the dance floor.
