My baby step for today is a direct copy of day three of the Flylady.net de-clutter babysteps. And that is "do what you have done." Basically, repeat the other two babysteps. The reason is that I am trying to build habits and that happens through repetition. It takes something like a month to form a habit.
My habits so far are:
- Filling up my water bottle not in the staff lounge at work and getting a minimum of 64oz of water.
- Waiting until I am hungry (my stomach is rumbling, growling, and feels empty) before eating something.
In case I don't get to blog my babystep for tomorrow is going to be another one from FlyLady. "Write what you hear." The objective is to write down all the negative thoughts that are keeping me from my goals. All the negative voices and what they are saying to me. Then, you take those statements and turn the positives. For example, I might hear a negative voice that tells me "You are powerless against sweets." and I would turn it into something positive that says "I do have control over what I choose to eat. And as a person concerned with my health I make good decisions." I'll probably include one for body image. Jilllian Michaels said on a podcast once that she makes her contestants write down 5 things they love about their bodies. So, if I were to say that I hate my thighs, I'd have to equally say that I love my collar bone. Or, I have well defined biceps. The idea is to keep me in a positive frame of mind, and to acknowledge the progress that I've made.
I'll probably include other babysteps like this - especially when it comes to figuring out strategies for avoiding temptations, and avoiding things I know are cues to over indulge and make bad choices.
Speaking of Jillian Michaels... I purchased her Calorie Control supplement and her Fat Burner.
Alot of people are dissing on her for endorsing "diet pills" but these include the same ingredients (guarana and aspirin -as willow bark) as she gives (or gave) her BL contestants - if anyone keeps up with the show it's what Filipe accused her of drugging her contestants with in Season 7 because he didn't like her. I really liked this blog for pulling out all of her tweets on the subject. She even says her self these supplements are not meant to replace diet and exercise they only enhance it. I'm hoping it's true.
I have taken them for less than a week, so I am going to reserve judgment, but so far I like them. Even though I just found out they aren't vegetarian - damn those gelatin capsules!!
Yeah, I'm a rabid fan. What of it? What ever motivates me to get off the couch to exercise and shut mouth and not eat so much, I'm cool with. Even if I end up drooling over Jillian Michaels and eating up most (she's not veggie or vegan friendly in my opinion) of what she has to say. She's smart and she wants people to live a healthy lifestyle. I'm willing to buy a few of her products to help me get there Although, my boyfriend is starting to wonder if I don't have a little crush on her, but I don't swing that way : )

I really like the write what you hear idea, turning negatives into positives. It's something I'm going to try, thanks for sharing.
