So, after a very tearful phone call with the BF about how I screwed myself out of a job offer, I managed to talk to a facebook friend who works in HR (at a different place) and does education verification. She basically hit me hard with a "never, ever lie on your resume." But then told me they wouldn't check the certificate because my other degrees out rank it and it doesn't have enough to do with this position.  So Miranda's comment is probably right. The certificate shouldn't matter enough for somebody who is really busy to be worried about checking. If my other degrees are in order.
My friend then said that if for some reason they do check and it comes up, then address that I didn't get a chance to finish when I meant to, but otherwise don't. (The BFs advice was to be up front). Anyway... here's hoping. I managed to negotiate my start date to later in the month so that if they do find something I should know before I give notice. I don't want to quit here and then have zero job.

What follows is some of what I wrote in my un-published excited blog post before I freaked out over my education situation. I'm trying not to get too excited now since I know the rug may be pulled out from under me.

That job I interviewed for a few days after my accident. Which I thought I did "so-so" on, and (I don't think I've mentioned this here) which the thank you note for got returned by the post office. And, which I thought I had gotten a brush off email from two weeks ago.

No second round interview, just an offer letter!

Anyway... I also have to negotiate the start date. Because they were counting 2 weeks from yesterday. But I can't do that. And the question is does my vacation count as part of 2 weeks notice? So, I have to figure that out.

(here was a paragraph about possibly not taking the job because of my boyfriend's career situation. But when I talked to him he said absolutely not, Don't say no to a job when we don't know what is going to happen in the future.)

If I do take the job I'll get benefits! which I haven't had since the end of 2007. A retirement plan, a bonus structure, on top of a salary that is pretty nice considering I'm pretty entry level. It's a hell of a lot better than some I've seen that advertise $24-28K that's barely above poverty and living in the city is not cheap. The nice thing is that they told me upfront the hours (it's a super early am shift) and the salary so I could say yes or no. I bet they weeded out a number of people on that criteria. There may even have been someone they offered first who tried to negotiate more money. I'm not sure. I'd like to think I was choice number 1, but I've gotten jobs before where I wasn't.

I'm seriously so excited guys!! I didn't let on to my family or even the BF but was so worried about my higher car and insurance payments. I was trying to think of all the ways I'd need to cut back to not go broke. But I it shouldn't be a problem anymore! Plus, there is a very real chance that I could LIKE my job. I know at least that I'll be busy.

So, when I get back from vacation I am at least going to have a no social media (see how I came back to that?) at work rule. I'm hoping that I'll be able to put some hour/weekend limits on it too.

I'll update again after I talk to the BF tonight.

Comments from "Might be gone for awhile"-
Miranda: Thanks for your comment on my last post about the law suit. That helps make me feel better. If anything had been broken the paramedics would have noticed, but she was up and talking on the phone and everything afterwards. And yeah, the lawyer's letter said that he gets 1/3 of what is recovered.

Kitty: I don't understand the whole "sue everybody" mentality that some people have either. I don't get people thinking they are entitled to a ton of cash because of an accident, our insurance should have covered her costs, I think it's just greedy to try to sue for more. I'm not a big corporation and this wasn't an incident somewhere like a hospital where checks and balances should prevent accidents. We were in cars, accidents happen when people drive motorized vehicles.

So excited for you! zero job offers to two job offers. That is great news. So glad something came through for you. You really needed it!

Nope, just the one job offer. The second part of this post is what I was going to write, before I started panicking over the certificate situation.
