Ok. So here is the last about my picking vendors for our wedding (maybe, we're doing a food tasting in 1 month!)

Picking a Photographer was one of the hardest things to do. I was on a pretty tight budget, but I didn't want to sacrifice quality. I pretty much resigned myself to the fact that I'd only be able to afford 1 photographer for a short amount of time. My budget BTW was $1800.

First I started with people from FH's home town and checked out thier wedding albums. That did not help. Mostly they used the 1 local guy who could be hired all day for $500 and photoshops the shit out of his pictures (evidence that the pictures aren't good to start with).

Lovely pictures on their own, but not a good use of photoshop.

Then I started hitting up the wedding websites for vendors, and finally google.

I found a photographer that I really liked. She was exactly my price range and her portfolio was awesome. Very much what I was looking for. I contacted her and found out she was booked on our date. I was bummed.

I started over and went through so many sites. It seemed like anyone I liked was too pricey and anyone in my range just didn't offer enough or wasn't good. T

Then I found them... Goofy Named Photographers (not their real name). I hated their name so much that I looked at them last.

But then looking at their portfolio it was clear that their style was what I was looking for. I filled out their questionaire which was filled with questions like "what's your favorite sushi?" and "batman or superman?" Along with regular questions about what type of pictures I was looking for.

Based on their website they were supposed to have packages starting at $1500. But it turned out that was for an assistant photographer. I ended up doing some negotiating, taking some things out of the package and coming down to the top end of my budget. Even though it was more than I originally wanted to spend. It was important enough to me to spend a little bit more to get closer to what I wanted.

I'm very excited. I have chatted with them over the phone, and I will get to meet them on the weekend of my bridal shower.

Then there is awesome photoshop:
I want this photo for my wedding

If my fiancé and I would have a wedding with a photographer (which we probably won't since we're chickening out and eloping) I would want them to be the kind that asks "Batman or Superman" (Batman, always Batman).

Some things you do want to pay for in a wedding, and I think that a good photographer is on that list. The photos will be memories for the rest of your lives and who would want to look at photos where you look like the extras from "Deliverance"?

That first pic is awful!! What the heck. The second is pretty cool. I have honestly never ever in my life seen photo shopped wedding pics in either way. I didn't even know people did that! It's cool. Yeah, photographer is something you can't go too cheap on unfortunately.
